| Microdose Mammography is a completely new imaging procedure. DiagnoseZentrumUrania, is currently the only institute in the whole of Austria (including hospitals) where this procedure is used. Compared to conventional X-ray mammography the radiation dose is reduced by up to 80 per cent - no other mammography device offers this advantage. Nevertheless, the tissue structures of the female breast are visualized in high resolution, which also results in much better image quality. This is particularly important for the assessment of large, dense breasts which are very difficult to examine by the procedures available so far. Read more about it Women between the ages of 35 and 50 years should undergo a preventive
mammography every 2 years; Prior appointment: required Areas of application:
The investigation:In order to get optimum images with minimum radiation exposure the
breast must be compressed briefly, which may cause an unpleasant sensation.
The better the breast is compressed, the more informative are the
X-ray images. The images are sharper; besides, the radiation dose
can be reduced. As this compression is best tolerated during and shortly
after menstruation, we try our best to perform this investigation
at this time. Important information:Please DO ENSURE you bring any previous mammography
images you may have. Small changes can be identified only by means
of ongoing controls and comparisons. |
